In Pu'er Sun River National Park, there are dense forests, fresh air and clear spring water. The temperature of the spring water is maintained between 10℃ to 22℃ all year round, with dissolved oxygen of 3.5mg/L above. It is very suitable for the growth and reproduction of the giant salamanders. The giant salamander is a rare species which can be dated back to 300 million years ago when dinosaurs were still living on the earth. It is also the largest amphibian living on the earth now, known as "a living fossil". It can make a sound like infants crying, so people also call it "baby fish", which is the second class national protected wild aquatic animal.
