Swan Lake covers an area of approximately 2, 700 square meters, including Swan Lake, World of Reptiles and other exhibits. The central lake is home to white swans, black swans, white pelicans, cormorants, wild geese, and wild ducks, while the surrounding area is inhabited by the pythons, lizards, chameleons and other reptiles. The swan has a body length of 80 to 120 cm, and a weight of 6 to 8 kg. They inhabits bays, coasts, lakes and other waters. As the sign of faithful love, the male and the female swan will never split up once bonded with each other. The most conspicuous "weirdo" in Swan Lake is the pelican, a kind of bird living by the sea. Their casually cruise around the lake with their huge bodies floating on the water, and, from time to time, they flap their wings with the mouths open and the long necks stretched. In addition to swans and pelicans, Swan Lake is also home to cormorants, which are often seen squatting on the rocks at the edge of Swan Lake. With the black appearance and size of a duck, the cormorant is the famous fishing champion in the animal kingdom. Among China’s 5 species of cormorants, the black-necked cormorant and sea cormorant are the rarest, listed as state second grade protection animals.
